Pat’s music found its way into my own writing.
“Odd Funk-N-Stuff” (1991) was recorded in my basement on a 4-track, with Kyle Coughlin on sax and flute and Chris Holt on guitar. The name says it all: like Pat Metheny meets Tower of Power… Ummm… or something.
“Hiatus IV” (1995) is an intense synth-based romp through 11/4 and 22/8 meters, with a strong Pat Metheny influence. That 22/8 is the meter of the hand claps that open “First Circle.”
